As viewers of "Taste of America" already know, nothing Mark or his guests say is scripted. Like other successful shows; "Who’s Line is it Anyway?," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and Fox News’ "The O’Reilly Factor," the comedy on ToA is completely improvised.
Unlike those other stalwarts, Mark’s costars are not trained professionals - and that’s where the fun comes in. Nothing is planned, nothing is scripted. It’s all improvised, all the time. Does that mean it’s funny all the time? Yes. As long as you don’t see the
un-edited footage. Mark loves the spontaneity and fun in improv, which is why he’s back performing in clubs and colleges again. Well that...and the cash.
Mark got his improv baptism with Chicago’s famed "Second City." Mark founded the comedy troupe’s West Coast Touring Company in 1988. Other members of that inaugural cast include; Andy Dick, Brad Sherwood, Megan Cavanaugh, and Chris Best.
Eventually, Mark met Detroit comedian David Floyd, and along with four others, they founded "The Frayed Knots!" a popular Los Angeles’ improv group. The "Knots" performed weekly comedy and music shows all over the West for three years until Mark landed his hosting gig on Fox’s "Studs," and touring became impossible.
Since then, Mark has performed live improv comedy at colleges and clubs all over the country. From the Comedy Store, to the Improv, to the legendary Concorde Hotel in the Catskills where the show ended with a guy in a wheel chair whizzing across the stage and into the orchestra pit, improv has been Mark’s play and his passion.
MARK & DAVE are back on the road, currently performing their unique two man improv comedy show (with music) in comedy comedy and colleges all over the country. Each show is as different as the audience that helps create it - whether it’s by coming up on stage or shouting something from the back row, MARK & DAVE always deliver a crisp and clever comedy show, without any messy stand up. And they can do it LIVE at your club, college or corporate event: Use the links below.
